Darts Scorer: 501 & Cricket

A darts scorer built around the two things every other app gets wrong: showing the checkout for every player, and never losing your leg.

In the meantime, the scoreboard and checkout chart are free here.

What it does

Live checkouts for everyone

Every player's route, not just whoever is throwing, recalculated after each dart. Routes avoid the bull unless nothing else reaches, and honour the double you actually practise.

Undo that reaches back

Step back to any earlier turn, including your opponent's. Fixing a score entered wrong two visits ago does not mean restarting the leg.

Stats that are never paywalled

Three-dart average, first-nine, checkout percentage and darts thrown, live during the leg. Basic stats stay free, permanently.

Cricket done properly

Marks, closes and dead numbers handled correctly, plus cut-throat and points-off toggles. Legible with six players, not just two.

It will not lose your leg

The screen stays awake, state is written after every dart, and an unfinished match reopens exactly where it stopped — mid-visit included.

Readable across the room

A font-size setting for the match screen, not just Dynamic Type. Scores stay legible from the oche rather than only from arm's length.

What it deliberately does not do

Camera auto-scoring, online multiplayer and a computer opponent are all missing on purpose. Each one is a large, fragile surface that other apps in this category ship badly, and a bad version of any of them is worse than none. If they arrive it will be because they work, not because the feature list looked short.

App questions

Is the app free?

The scorer is free to use for 501, 301 and Cricket. A one-time purchase unlocks the extras. There is no subscription and nothing is a consumable, so you pay once and keep it.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes. Everything runs on the device and matches are stored locally, so it works in a cellar bar with no signal. Nothing needs an account.

Will it lose my game if the screen turns off?

No. The screen is kept awake while a match is live, and the state is written after every dart rather than at the end of a leg. If the app is closed mid-visit it reopens exactly where it stopped.

Can I undo a mistake from an earlier turn?

Yes, including another player's turn. The undo history is rebuilt from the stored darts rather than held in memory, so you can step back past the current visit to fix a score entered wrong two turns ago.

Does it show checkouts for both players?

Yes, all of them at once rather than only the player throwing. The route also recalculates after each dart, so on 81 it shows the two-dart route once the first dart has landed.

Is there an Apple Watch app?

Not at launch. It is a common request in this category but a rare one, and shipping it badly is worse than not shipping it. The same applies to camera scoring and online multiplayer.
